Cisco: In 2015 There Will Be 15,000 Million Devices
Internet live tremendous growth of connected devices and traffic, which will quadruple between 2010 and 2015. At least that’s what Cisco Systems says in a report released this week.
Internet traffic globally will exceed the 966 exabytes (an exabyte is equal to 1,024 petabytes) for 2015, in which there will be 15,000 million devices, two per person in the world. They report data from Visual Networking Index Forecast for Cisco.
Other data show that Internet traffic will increase to 200 exabites between 2014 and 2015. By comparison, the traffic in 2010 was 20.2 exabytes per month. This increased traffic is due mainly to the videos online and use of new devices such as tablets.
Cisco estimates that by 2015 one million minutes of video each second cross internet, and that 5% of all Internet traffic will come from the tablets, which means that the tablets will generate more traffic than the sum of all connected devices 2006.
Cisco also provides in its report that the WiFi traffic in 2015 will exceed the wiring, and the average speed of broadband will increase the 7Mbps to 28Mbps.
